First-Timer’s Guide: Getting the Most Out of Wave 2020
Wave 2020 – the premier conference for data and technology in Fire, EMS, and Hospital – is less than one month away, meaning it’s the perfect time to start preparing for your trip to Austin, TX. From Feb. 26-27, more than 1,000 experts and peers will be gathering to discuss their industries’ most pressing issues and newest ideas, as well as network and fine-tune their ESO product skills.
If it’s your first time attending Wave, we’d like to offer you our 5 best tips for making the most of your visit to the conference, from ear-marking your can’t-miss sessions to attending all the fun networking opportunities available to attendees.
1. Plan Your Sessions in Advance
Trying to make the most of your day without missing any key sessions? Use the handy online agenda to get the most current information on daily events, session times, speakers, and locations for each day. Sort listings by session type or track with the “Category” filter at the top of the page to refine your results. Pro Tip: The ESO Training Academy schedule repeats on both days, so if you have a course conflict on day one, you can catch it on Day 2.
2. Catch Up on the Latest Research
You won’t want to miss more in-depth information from your favorite presenters and researchers via the Poster Presentation Track. These research papers can be reviewed either in session rooms or in the Conference App. It’s an easy way to learn what’s new in the healthcare and safety world in your spare time. Pro Tip: Vote for your favorite presentation during the conference through the app.
3. Mark Your Calendar for Nightly Events
Networking is one of the best benefits of attending Wave, and the conference offers several opportunities to catch up with old colleagues and get to know new peers from around the country. On Feb. 24, attend the Welcome Reception from 5:45-7:45 p.m. at the Hilton. Feb. 26 features the Data After Dark Party from 7-10 p.m. at Maggie Mae’s on Austin’s famous 6th Street. And on Feb. 27, you won’t want to miss the Data Games, a bar-style trivia game running from 5:45-7 p.m. at the Hilton. Pro Tip: Sort the online agenda tool by “Receptions and Networking” if you need a reminder on time or location of these events.
4. Take Advantage of the Conference App
One of the easiest ways to organize your Wave attendance is to use the Wave 2020 Conference App. You can track your courses and create your own custom schedule, read speaker bios, and see what’s new. Download the app today to explore all its features. Pro Tip: Interact with other Wave attendees and make your voice heard by posting social updates to the App wall.
5. See What’s New at ESO
In addition to the Training Academy and the Support Lab tracks, you can get an insider’s view of ESO products at the ESO Product Station, located on the 6th floor of the Hilton. This is the best place to get a sneak peek into what’s new with ESO products, featuring demos, product tours, and staff experts to answer your questions. Pro Tip: Be sure to chat with ESO staff manning the Product Station; many have firsthand experience in health care and safety, so they can offer you helpful perspective on using ESO tools in the real world.
We look forward to seeing you at Wave 2020 very soon! Registration is still open for both Wave and ESO Training Academy at eso.com/wave-2020.
