How You’ll Support Our Mission 

ESO’s teams are growing, and our software is in demand globally by firefighters, paramedics, hospitals and governments. To meet this demand, we are building an industry-leading cyber security team in Belfast to protect our customers and data from a variety of fast moving and constantly evolving threats. 

We are looking for a Senior Security Ops Engineer to join our global team. This role will work alongside our wider Security, IT, development, platform and business teams across the world. 

You will be helping to lead incidents, whilst also reviewing and responding to both internal and external alerts, assisting users in how to operate securely and ensuring that our controls are healhy across our technology estate. 

We want our colleagues throughout ESO to operate securely, but with a high degree of autonomy and minimal security constraints, so we will be implementing automated controls, approvals and governance to enable this.  You will be part of a high functioning, motivated and forward-thinking team.  You have the chance to join a growing and passionate team, working on critical products, whilst being supported with training opportunities and mentoring.

What You’ll Be Doing – the day to day

  • Triaging and responding to security alerts and incidents from internal tools and external intelligence sources
  • Leading incidents end‑to‑end — containment, communication, investigation, and root‑cause analysis
  • Ensuring security controls (including identity, access, and endpoint protections) are deployed and operating effectively
  • Handling privileged access and identity governance tasks
  • Supporting our vulnerability management program
  • Helping develop clear processes for incident response and alert handling
  • Monitoring system security compliance
  • Providing practical security guidance to colleagues across ESO
  • Collaborating closely with wider technology teams to improve our security posture

Who You Are - some of the essential things required to be successful in the role

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in technology or security role, including Microsoft technologies 
  • Hands‑on experience with SIEM platforms (security event monitoring, alert triage, investigations)
  • Hands‑on experience with EDR solutions (endpoint detection, response, containment)

Additionally, you should have experience with at least some of the following:

  • Deploying security patches, anti‑malware, or endpoint protection tools
  • Working with networks (firewalls, switches, wireless)
  • Using tools such as vulnerability management, PAM, IDS/IPS, or DLP platforms
  • Working across Microsoft, Linux, and macOS environments
  • A passion for solving problems, digging into root causes, and enabling teams to work securely and independently

Who You Are – it’s desirable if you have any of the following

  • Experience or certifications in Microsoft Defender suite, Zscaler product suite, Tenable, NinjaOne 
  • Experience or certifications in Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 suite, Defender suite, Microsoft Sentinel, Privileged Identity Management, Purview
