ESO Acquires Clinical Data Management to Extend Product Portfolio in Trauma Registry Market

Innovative trauma registry software will help drive data collection and analysis across healthcare spectrum to improve patient safety

AUSTIN, Texas, December 10, 2019ESO, the leading data and software company serving emergency medical services (EMS), fire departments and hospitals, today announced its acquisition of Clinical Data Management to extend its product portfolio in the trauma registry market. By combining the assets, expertise and customer base of Clinical Data Management with newly acquired Digital Innovation and Lancet Technology, ESO will have the largest portfolio of state trauma registries in the United States and will deliver a world’s first – the ability to see time-sensitive emergencies and patient data from the first 911 call for help all the way through a patient leaving the hospital.

“Similar to the acquisition of Digital Innovation and Lancet, the acquisition of Clinical Data Management provides us with another strong entry point to the trauma registry market,” said Chris Dillie, President and CEO of ESO. “Clinical Data Management is a pioneer in the development and delivery of software and technology to capture important data as it relates to trauma. When integrated with our comprehensive product suite, this will provide a much fuller picture for both hospitals and EMS to identify opportunities for improvement when it comes to patient care.”

Clinical Data Management has a 30-year history as an innovative leader in trauma registry software. In addition to the company’s flagship product, TraumaBase, ESO will also acquire all of Clinical Data Management’s trauma-related software products, including the company’s state trauma registry and customers.

“Data and analytics are the driving force behind improvements across the healthcare spectrum,” said Jody Summers, President of Clinical Data Management. “ESO understands the value of data – and patient safety. We’re excited to become part of the ESO family to leverage our long history of technology innovation that continues to drive change in the industry.”

The combination of Digital Innovation, Clinical Data Management and Lancet’s technology and trauma data with ESO’s industry leading ESO EHR and award-winning ESO HDE will provide both EMS and hospitals with a comprehensive patient picture that will allow both providers and hospital staff to make the most informed decisions when it comes to patient care. Additionally, EMS and hospital will have access to outcomes data that will improve the quality of care.

Details of the deal were not disclosed.
