How You’ll Support Our Mission
ESO Fire products are used by fire departments across the United States to capture, manage, validate, and analyze incident, prevention, and operational data throughout the full lifecycle of emergency response. The Fire product suite supports core fire service workflows including incident reporting, inspections, properties, permits, hydrants, activities, and integration with CAD systems, while ensuring compliance with national and state reporting standards such as NFIRS and NERIS.
In addition to enabling accurate regulatory reporting and supporting departmental compliance requirements, ESO Fire products play a critical role in operational insight, performance improvement, and data-driven decision‑making. By turning fire and incident data into actionable intelligence, the Fire product portfolio directly supports ESO’s mission to improve community health & safety through the power of data.
As the Director of Product for Fire, you will oversee the entire Product Management lifecycle for a suite of products spanning incident reporting, prevention, inspections, properties, permits, hydrants, and CAD integrations, and will work closely with engineering, design, analytics, sales, and customer success to align delivery with business and customer outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing – Day to Day
- Stabilize the predictability and velocity of software delivery together with your Engineering counterparts and teams, and restore a healthy balance between different classifications of R&D work (e.g., Regulatory, Maintenance, Support-Escalated Defects, Minor Enhancements, Strategic Roadmap, Tech Roadmap, Innovation & Discovery)
- Ensure cross-functional alignment with Sales, Onboarding, Customer Success, Onboarding, Engineering and the Enterprise Program Management Office (PMO) to facilitate smooth customer experience especially for migrating customers, and healthy retention
- Own the Product Roadmap process, considering the needs of existing Fire customers, sales prospects and Regulators / Industry Stakeholders
- Ensure that there is consistent and well-documented alignment on roadmap priorities in every planning horizon (Sprint, Program Increment, Quarter, Year), and communicate updates to these priorities effectively across all stakeholders
- Align with your Engineering counterparts so that the roadmap priorities always translate into clear requirements backed by solid discovery to ensure maximum flow and velocity, and minimal rework / context-switching
- Collaborate with your Product Managers and cross-functional counterparts to maintain, update and expand the Roadmap fact base that serves as the foundation for a data-informed product roadmap, including product insights (product analytics), customer insights (customer feedback, sentiment, support trends, churn analysis), market insights (compliance and other trends), competitive insights (win/loss analysis, competitive intel) and internal execution insights (sprint/PI delivery retrospectives, Product P&L analysis)
